Behind The Computer Screen
I thought I should share with you why it is I started Online Missions. When I first heard of kahn a couple of months ago I had at the time little experience with chat rooms. At first all I saw when I logged onto kahn was a bunch of made-up names - aliases for people on the net. At the time what I saw didn't really matter to me. But then something changed. I realized for the first time that there were people behind those made-up names. That behind the computer screen lie real people with real lives. I never thought I would become emotionally attached to what I saw on my screen, but I have. I've come to realize that those people beyond the computer screen are hurting. That they need help. That they're looking for answers. They're looking for a purpose. They're looking for respect. They're looking for someone to turn to when they need help. When we log online we sometimes think that what we do and say won't effect anything. But what we do online does matter and it can have a powerful impact.
